Recover Photos from iPhone – 100% Work Ways in 2026

Can’t find a photo anywhere on your iPhone? That is a common issue. It is said that someone faces photo loss every 1.4 seconds. Fortunately, we have many ways to find out the lost or deleted iPhone photos. This article gives the four most commonly used ways to recover deleted photos on iPhone: the Recently Deleted folder, iCloud and Finder backup, and imyPass iPhone Data Recovery software. 

Method 1. Find Deleted Photos from the Recently Deleted Folder

The first method, also the very first thing to do when you find you have lost some photos on iPhone, is to check the Recently Deleted folder. As long as the photos are accidentally deleted rather than lost due to system issues, you can always find them in the Recently Deleted folder within 40 days. Without further ado, let’s see how to recover deleted photos from the iPhone’s Recently Deleted folder. 

Step 1. Go to the Photos app and scroll down, and then tap Recently Deleted under Utilities. You may need to verify with iPhone screen password, Face ID, or Touch ID. 

Step 2. You can press one photo and tap the Recover button. Or tap Select on the top and multi-select the photos you want to recover. And then tap the three dots button at the bottom and choose Recover

Step 3. Go back to the album and see if they are recovered. 

Method 2. Recover Permanently Deleted iPhone Photos via Software [Without Backups]

If you have no backups and the lost photos are not in the Recently Deleted folder, the only but also best solution is to use iPhone data recovery software. As long as the photo was once saved on your iPhone, the software can scan your device and recover the deleted photos.

Step 1. Search for imyPass and visit its official website. Download the iPhone Data Recovery software for your Windows or Mac computer and double-click to install it. 

Step 2. Double-click to launch it on your computer and click Recover from iOS Device on the main interface. And then, connect your iPhone to this computer with a USB cable. 

Step 3. When the iPhone is successfully connected, click Start Scan

Step 4. Once the scanning finishes, click Photos on the left side, and you can see all the photos on your iPhone. Check the boxes on the photos, and click the Recover button at the bottom. 

Tips:

  1. To filter the permanently deleted photos on your iPhone, you can choose Show Deleted Only at the top of the interface. 
  2. If you have an iCloud or iTunes backup that contains the deleted photos, but you don’t want to restore the whole backup to your iPhone, you can also use imyPass iPhone Data Recovery to restore photos from iCloud. Method 3. Restore iCloud Backup to Find Deleted iPhone Photos

If you have an iCloud backup that may contain the lost photos, this method will show you how to recover erased photos from iCloud backup. Remember, this method will wipe the current data on your iPhone. If you don’t mind, please follow the following steps. 

Step 1. First, prepare your iPhone. Go to Settings > General > Reset, and select Erase All Contents and Settings

Step 2. Then, you need to set up your iPhone. When you reach the Transfer Your Apps & Data screen, tap From iCloud Backup.

Step 3. Sign in to your Apple ID and choose a backup based on the date. Keep the Wifi connection stable and start to restore. 

Method 4. Restore Finder/iTunes Backup to Find Deleted iPhone Photos

If you are not a cloud user but have a local backup that contains the deleted iPhone photos, this section will tell you how to restore them. If you are using a Windows laptop or an old Mac laptop, you need to restore this backup from iTunes. But the Finder app is now responsible for file management of Apple devices. Therefore, we will introduce the method to recover deleted photos iPhone via the Finder app. But don’t worry, the steps are similar. 

Step 1. Connect your iPhone to your Mac laptop using a USB cable, and open Finder

Step 2. Select your iPhone name on the left. 

Step 3. Tap General > Restore Backup

Step 4. Choose the backup that contains your deleted iPhone photos. If it is an encrypted backup, you need to enter the password.
